The technology has been used to make parts for machines, custom limbs for amputees, crafts and models for hobbyists, and even clothing…and if you are Jay Leno, you use it to make parts for your massive collection of cars.  For those of you who are unfamiliar, the The Tonight Show host has a thing for cars.  He owns about 100 cars and 90 motorcycles, and even has his own website dedicated to his machines: Jay Leno’s Garage.

In his garage he has a lot of antique cars that they no longer make parts for. In the past if he has needed a replacement part he has had to send the piece to a machinist and have them try and replicate it. Now he just scans the part with his handy-dandy NextEngine 3D scanner and whips up a mold with his
